The history of the Nijkerk Group dates back to the early days of the 20th century, when electric light became a consumer good. M.E. Nijkerk founded M.E. Nijkerk in Gas & Electric Lights in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. From that time onwards, the companies have gone through several make-over’s, concentrating continuously on forward looking business propositions.

In the first half of the 1940s business ceased to exist, and in second half of the 1940s the entrepreneurial sprit re-emerged with wholesaling in consumer electrical and household goods.

From the late 1950s it became involved in distribution of electronic components to the then emerging electronic production industry in the Netherlands, and in 1967 it opened its doors in Belgium.

System Engineering activities came into life in the early 1980s, and data-communication –pre IP Networking solutions- followed suit not long after. By the early 1990s it became an established player in the succeeding networking technology market in the BeNeLux, and from the second half of the 1990s the market was enlarged with the establishment of the French subsidiary.  Advanced software solutions was added from the second half of the 1990s leading the foundations for today’s Nijkerk Group.
